Riedberg Stein - 17th Century Fayence Style

Hand painted and specially  fired using tin oxide for the characteristic glaze.  The Fayence technique can be traced back to 500 years BC.  The earliest mention is from Persian text. This piece features a typical 17th century tavern scene.  Pewter lid and base.
